University of Sydney


The University of Sydney (commonly referred to as Sydney University, Sydney Uni, USYD, or Sydney) is an Australian public research university in Sydney. Founded in 1850, it is Australia's first university and is regarded as one of its most prestigious, ranked as the world's 27th most reputable university.In 2015, it was ranked 45th in the QS World University Rankings. Additionally, Sydney graduates have been ranked the most employable in Australia and 14th most employable in the world, in the top 0.1%. Five Nobel and two Crafoord laureates have been affiliated with the university as graduates and faculty. Its campus is ranked in the top 10 of the world's most beautiful universities by the British Daily Telegraph and The Huffington Post, spreading across the inner-city suburbs of Camperdown and Darlington.
The university comprises 16 faculties and schools, through which it offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. In 2011 it had 32,393 undergraduate and 16,627 graduate students.
Sydney University is a member of the prestigious Group of Eight, Academic Consortium 21, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning, the Australia-Africa Universities Network (AAUN), the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the Worldwide Universities Network. The University is also colloquially known as one of Australia's sandstone universities.

Nepal Engineering College

Nepal Engineering College, also known as nec, was established in 1994 as the first private engineering college of Nepal and is the second-largest engineering college there also one of the most commercially successful colleges of the nation..  Its main campus is located at Changunarayan, Bhaktapur. A second campus, in which BDH Programs run is located at Mahalaxmisthan and third campus, in which Masters Programs are run, is located at Balkhu, Kumariclub, Kathmandu. Established on 25 September 1994, the college currently offers engineering courses at the bachelor's and master's levels. It is affiliated to Pokhara University. nec received Nepal's best engineering college award in 2014 presented by Oxford summit of leaders, London .

Nepal Engineering College was established in 1994 as a non profit institution under private sector initiative. The foundation of nec was laid by few visionary Nepalese professionals and academicians who realized the need of an institution serving the technical education needs of the country for accelerated economic growth, reaching to wider section of Nepalese students and making the quality technical education accessible and affordable to the masses. This pioneering example set by nec led to the establishment of a number of engineering colleges in the country in the private sector in the later years. It is one and only engineering college in Nepal with an ISO standard certificate. Also, the visionaries had an adapt knowledge of the easy money that could be churned out of the education industry in this country. Henceforth they came up with an idea of an engineering college in an isolated area. nec meets all the standard of a complete engineering college and its products are well scattered in the market as very competent employees in some reputed organisations, many of the students from nec are pursuing master's and PhD colleges abroad like USA, Australia and Europe as well. The Chairman of nec Mr. Lambodar Neupane was awarded with "Manager of the year" by Oxford summit of leaders, London.

Nepal Sanskrit University

नेपाल संस्कृत विश्वविद्यालय. Nepal Sanskrit University (formerly Mahendra Sanskrit University), established in December 1986, has its central office at Beljhundi in Dang district of Mid-Western Development Region, Nepal, which is 13 km from the headquarters, Ghorahi.


The university offers Intermediate (Uttar Madhyama), Bachelor (Shastri), Bachelor of Education, Masters (Acharya) and Doctoral courses in classical and modern subjects. It offers intermediate in Ayurveda and condensed courses for Ayurvedacharya. The university has 12 constituent and 13 affiliated Vidhyapithas (campuses) around the country.

Inspired by the long unbroken tradition of Sanskrit in Nepal, the university was established for the following purposes:

To fulfill the need for an autonomous institution for teaching/learning activities and research of Sanskrit at many levels.
To systematize Sanskrit education up to the highest level in the country.
To preserve and promote Sanskrit education in sectors of Nepalese society.
To develop the Kingdom of Nepal into a centre for learning through Sanskrit education.
MSU offers facilities for degree and non-degree research works based on Sanskrit. It organizes training programs on Vedic and Buddhist teaching and Yoga training.

The prime minister is the chancellor of Nepal Sanskrit University. The pro-chancellor is the Minister for Education. The vice-chancellor is the chief administrator.

On May 12, 2002, fires caused 27.5 million rupees worth of damage.

Kathmandu University

Kathmandu University (KU)(काठमाण्डौ विश्वविद्यालय) is an independent non-government, public institution. It is the third oldest university in Nepal, located in Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchok District, about 30 km east of Kathmandu. KU was established in 1991 with the motto "Quality Education for Leadership". This university operates through its six schools and from premises in Dhulikhel, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.

The university provides undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the fields of engineering, science, management, arts, education and medical sciences. It provides undergraduate courses in engineering (civil,computer, electrical & electronics, and mechanical), science (Biotechnology,environmental science, pharmacy, human biology & applied physics), management (Bachelors in Business Administration), arts (music, media, and economics). Graduate courses in environment science, engineering, pharmacy, development and business administration are also offered.

Pokhara University

Pokhara University (PU or PoU) was established in 1996 as Nepal's fifth University. The central office of this university is located in Pokhara, Kaski district, Western Development Region. Along with Purbanchal University, PU was formed as part of the government's policy for improved access to higher education. The Prime Minister is the Chancellor of the University and the Minister for Education is the Pro-Chancellor. The Vice Chancellor is the principal administrator of the university.

Location

Pokhara University is located at Khudi, Dhungepatan, Lekhnath Municipality of Kaski district, thirteen(13) kilometers east from Pokhara city(Prithvi Chowk).i.e, eight(8) kilometers from Bijaypur bridge. It has built an academic complex in the serene and scenic location of Seven Lake City, Lekhnath, in the lap of the Himalayan range and peaks such as Mt. Machhapuchre, Mt. Dhawlagiri and Mt. Annapurna. In addition, Begnas Lake and Rupa Lake are within walking distance of its academic complex and central office.
The School of Engineering Sciences are on the bank of the Khudi river and the School of Medical Sciences on the bank of the Seti River, five minutes walking distance from Prithivi Highway.

Activities

Pokhara University started its academic activities guided by the Pokhara University act 1996. In order to achieve such objectives, a semester system based curriculum and evaluation were set up.
Pokhara University has three academic institutions where Bachelor's and Master's Degrees programs are running,
There are 49 academic institutions under its affiliation with Bachelor, Master, M.Phil and Ph.D.degrees programs,
Pokhara University has a Central Office building, Examination Office building, and Academic building in Dhungepatan, Lekhnath Municipality.

Teaching
The university uses a semester system. All Bachelors degrees are of four years (delivered over eight semesters) and Masters degrees are of two years (delivered over four semesters). M. Phil degree is of one and half years (three semesters).

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
There are about 5,400 students enrolled across all programs.
