Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM) - the youngest sibling in the family of IIMs - has travelled quite a distance, since its inception ten years ago. Rubbing shoulders with some well established giants, IIM Indore has now carved a niche for itself in the corporate world and the eight batches that have passed out stand testimony to the fact. The essence of management, IIMI believes, lies in managing one's own ambitions and forging ahead consciously. "A strong theoretical foundation is the basis of good corporate practice" – this, coupled with grounding in management as it is practiced, is the underlying theme of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP). Spanning two years the programme is benchmarked against similar programmes of the best business schools in the world. Experiential learning, IT orientation and Social Sensitivity are some of the unique features of the programme. To back this up IIM Indore has a solid infrastructure ranging from a 193 acre campus to a strong IT backbone to the latest in teaching aids. Apart from full-time faculty, visiting faculty from many prestigious management institutes all over the country as well as from the industry visits our institute and impart knowledge to the participants. The Institute also organizes series of seminars and lectures where eminent speakers share their experiences with the IIM Indore Community. At present, IIM Indore offers the following programmes and plans to introduce a new programme from the next academic year. 1. The Post Graduate Programme (PGP) is a two year programme which offers, on its successful completion, a "Post Graduate Diploma in Management". 2. Management Development Programme (MDP) is targeted at developing the managerial skills of the people from various sectors of the industry. The duration of each course ranges from a week to a fortnight. They are held throughout the year. 3. Executive Post-Graduate Programme (Exe-PGP) is an 18-month programme, designed for working executives. 4. Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is a four/five years programme .It is designed to provide both breadth and depth of knowledge to doctoral participants in management. The prime objective of the programme centers on creating competence in teaching and research in management education, and practice. 5. Certificate Course in Business Management for Defence Officers (CCBMDO) is six month management programme for defence officers. 6. BroadBand Based Management Programmes 7. Indore has been touted as the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh. Formerly a major trading centre, the city, along with its satellite townships of Pithampur and Dewas, has established itself as a strong industrial base. Indore is well connected by road, rail and air with the Agra-Mumbai highway passing through the city. It is strategically located, being in close proximity to Mumbai (593 kms.) and Delhi (807 kms.) both of which are connected by daily flights.

Students can be found poring over cases, making slides for presentations, drafting the perfect CV, getting outfits ready, calling corporates for sponsorship and writing articles. IRIS - the annual management extravaganza is the biggest event on IIM Indore’s calendar. Preparation for this event is almost year long. The IRIS participants come from all across the country’s top schools.

IIM Ahmedabad

IIM Ahmedabad's mission is to help India and other developing countries improve their managerial practices.
In just four decades IIM Ahmedabad has evolved from being India’s premier management institute to a notable international school of management. It all started with Dr Vikram Sarabhai and a few other public spirited industrialists realizing that agriculture, education, health, transportation, population control, energy and public administration were all vital elements in a growing society and that it was necessary to link these meaningfully with industry. The result was the creation of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in 1961 as an autonomous body with the active collaboration of the Government of India, Government of Gujarat and industry. From the very start the founders introduced the concept of faculty governance: all members of the faculty play an important role in administering the diverse academic and non-academic activities of the Institute. The empowerment of the faculty has been the propelling force behind the high quality of learning experience at IIM Ahmedabad. The Institute had initial collaboration with Harvard Business School. This collaboration greatly influenced the Institute’s approach to education. Research is at the core of IIM Ahmedabad and provides a major interface with the wider academic and business world. It provides new theoretical frameworks that enable reassessment and refinement of current practices and thinking. Groundbreaking interdisciplinary research by the faculty feeds directly into an enhanced learning environment at the Institute and indirectly to a wider audience of practicing managers and teachers of management. The reputation of IIM Ahmedabad owes much to the exceptional caliber of its faculty. The Institute prides itself on creating an environment of substantial academic freedom overlaid by rigorous, self-imposed standards of excellence and socially responsive practices. The faculty willingly submit themselves to a unique, rigorous, open and continuous process of appraisal and feedback from the students. This enables the faculty to fine tune course contents and delivery mechanisms. Through a variety of committees, faculty plays a hands-on role in the governance of the Institute and assumes total ownership of collective decisions. The Institute’s library is an invaluable resource with close to 180,000 volumes, 600 current periodicals, 700 CDs and more than 2000 working papers and dissertations. It also provides indexing search services from a number of major databases like ABI/Inform, Econlit and BSP. The library has set up the 3i network or “Information Infrastructure for Institutions” to provide business, industry, environmental, agricultural and economic information to the users.

Any visitor to Ahmedabad will be struck by the vibrancy of this city of around 5.5 million people. The city has a proud history of industry and commerce that makes it a fitting home for an institute of the stature of IIM Ahmedabad. Once known as the “Manchester of the East”, much of the city’s twentieth century reputation was built on its commercial and enterprising spirit, most notably with the textile industry. The 40-hectare campus includes an academic complex of classrooms and seminar rooms, an auditorium, a well-equipped library, a computer centre, faculty and administrative offices, the Kasturbhai Lalbhai Management Development Centre for executive education, faculty and staff residences, a sports complex and student dormitories.  iim_ahmedabad2There are 20 student dormitories (5 more under construction) with a total capacity to hold about 740 occupants. Apart from the dormitories there are separate housing facilities available for married candidates. The dorms have ten single rooms on each floor arranged around a stairway and a tearoom. Stay in the dormitories is compulsory for students and both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are served. The rooms are fully furnished including a telephone connection. The dorms also have a T.V., washing machine and refrigerator. IIM Ahmedabad’s doctoral programme is a fully residential programme. Students and the faculty stay in a 100 acre green campus designed by Louis Kahn. The community is cosmopolitan with both the students and the faculty hailing from different parts of India. An international flavour is added by students from various countries who come here every year as part of an exchange programme. Two types of housing are available on campus: dormitories and family housing. Dormitories on campus provide single rooms for single students. Limited housing is available on campus for students with family. Permission to stay outside the campus may be granted only in exceptional circumstances. Participants will dine at the students’ mess, which offers a mix of north Indian and south Indian cuisine. While the cuisine is predominantly vegetarian, non-vegetarian food is available three to four times a week.

The Institute is located at Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode, (also known as Calicut) in the State of Kerala, the God's own Land. Calicut is a historic city where Vasco-de-Gama put his foot first to establish Indo-European business relationship over 500 years ago. Kunnamangalam is famous for a large number of small green hills, a unique feature that cannot be described but has to be experienced. Visitors have this unparalleled view of miles of greenery from every nook and corner of IIMK. They can enjoy the panoramic view of a hill station, sea beaches and backwaters in the same place.

Living on campus is a terrific way to make friends, become part of a community, get connected with the university and develop leadership skills. Campus accommodation is a place to work, relax and socialize side by side with an incredible mix of smart, interesting, creative individuals from around the world. IIM Kozhikode has excellent accommodation facilities for the students inside the campus. The classrooms, computer centre, canteen and all other facilities are within walking distance of the hostel. A fully automated modern Library & Information Centre (LIC) is on its way to becoming an outstanding learning resource centre catering to the ever growing and uncompromising information and intellectual requirements of the students, faculty, and researchers. A balanced programme on the development of the collection of hard copy, audio/video, CD-ROM and other electronic forms of documents is being followed. The LIC has one of the finest collections of latest management publications.
